Recap ("we") is a private space for close friend groups to share weekly life recaps, photos, and memories. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Recap, you agree to these practices.
Account: email, display name, username, and a password (hashed by our auth provider). Profile: optional bio, avatar photo, location, birthday, and timezone. Content: the weekly recaps, photos, captions, comments, reactions, and messages you create. Connections: your friend and group memberships. Device: a push-notification token when you enable notifications, and basic device/OS info needed to deliver them. Usage: limited analytics about how features are used, to improve the app.
To provide the core experience — showing your recaps to your friends and groups, delivering comments and reactions, sending weekly reminders and friend-activity notifications, and surfacing memories from past weeks. To keep the service safe: reviewing reports of spam, harassment, or inappropriate content. To maintain streaks and milestones, and to communicate with you about your account.
We do not sell your data. We do not show ads. We do not build a public profile of you — your recaps are only visible to friends and group members you have connected with. We do not use your photos or content to train AI models.
Hosting and database infrastructure (Base44), push delivery (Apple Push Notification service), and sign-in providers you choose (Apple and Google). These providers process data only as needed to deliver their service and under their own privacy terms. We share only the minimum required.
Your recaps, photos, and connections stay for as long as your account is active. You can export all of your data at any time from Settings → Download My Data. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data from Settings → Delete Account; deletion is irreversible and removes your recaps, comments, reactions, messages, memberships, and profile.
You control which notifications you receive in Settings. Push notifications require your permission; you can turn them off in your device settings at any time.
Depending on your region (e.g. GDPR/CCPA), you may have rights to access, export, correct, or delete your personal data. The in-app export and deletion tools let you exercise these rights directly. For other requests, contact us using the support information in the App Store listing.
Recap is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has registered, contact us so we can delete the account.
We may update this policy to reflect how Recap works. We will notify you of material changes within the app. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
